Kaal Sarp Dosh is formed  in kundali when all planets come between Rahu and Ketu. Kaal means time & sarp means snake. To overcome life problems due to kaalsarp dosha, Kaalsap puja is performed.

there are few places where Kaal sarp puja is done, out of  that trimbakeshwar is ranked one because the name of trimbakeshwar as a puja place is mention in puran also.

There are 12 types of kaalsarp dosha, depending on position of rahul and ketu in the birth-chart.

Anantha Kaalsarp Dosha: It is formed when Rahu is in the 1st house and Ketu is in the 7th house. 

Kulika Kalasarpa Dosha:  It is formed When Rahu is in the 2nd house and Ketu in the 8th house.

Vasuki Kalasarpa Dosha:  It is formed When Rahu is in the 3rd house and Ketu is in the 9th house.

Shankuphala Kalasarpa Dosha:  It is formed When Rahu is in the 4th house and Ketu is in the 10th house.

Padma Kalasarpa Dosha:  It is formed When Rahu is placed in the 5th house and Ketu is in the 11th house .

Mahapadma Kalasarpa Dosha:  It is formed When Rahu in the 6th house and Ketu is in the 12th house.

Takshaka Kalasarpa Dosha: It is formed When  Rahu is in the 7th house and Ketu is in the 1st house.

Karkotaka Kalasarpa Dosha: It is formed When Rahu is in the 8th house and Ketu is in the 2nd house.

Shanchachud Kalasarpa Dosha:  It is formed When 9th house is occupied by Rahu and 3rd house is occupied by ketu.

Ghatak Kalasarpa Dosha: It is formed when Rahu is in the 10th house and Ketu in the 4th house.

Vishdhar Kalasarpa Dosha: It is formed when Rahu is in the 11th house and Ketu is in the 5th house.

Seshnaga Kalasarpa Dosha: It is formed When Ketu is  in the 6th house and Rahu is in the 12th house.

Important Notes to remember before Kaal Sarp Dosh Puja:

1. Kaal Sarp Dosh Puja is done in 1 day, duration – 2-3 hrs.

2. For Men: Dhoti, Gamcha or Kurta Pajama, For Women: Saree or Punjabi Dress.After the pooja is finished the clothes are supposed to be left at trimbakeshwar only.

3. Black and green colored clothes should be avoided for Pooja.
